"Dear, dear defenders of the Fatherland,

Dear Ukrainians,

Representatives of the diplomatic corps,

We returned to the old Ukrainian tradition to honor the soldiers-defenders of the feast of the Holy virgin.

No wonder it happened, when again, like in the old Cossack times, Ukraine was a protective fence on the Eastern border of Europe.

We paid a high price for what stopped one of the largest armies in the world. Thousands dead, over a million refugees. Destroyed and looted by the occupiers of towns and villages.

This is the price for our previous mistakes. Because we have forgotten that peace and tranquility are given for a reason. They need to be protected.

What we had at the beginning of last year?

Paper army, which made this two-and-a-half decades of thoughtless irresponsible attitude to the Armed Forces, criminal negligence, corruption, penetration of the Ukrainian security and defense of the Russian special services.

A year ago, the first Ukrainian heroes sacrificed their lives to win, to win such a needed time for Ukraine. A few blocks from here, on the Maidan, they formed the first groups, created then, after the Revolution of Dignity, the National guard and volunteer battalions.

In his heart, not on the agenda then they all went to defend Ukraine.

The aggressor is expected that the Ukrainian state will collapse from the first strong impulse. But he did not take into account the Ukrainian people.

This exhibition tells what has been done over the past year and a half. What we were able together all Ukrainians, all United Ukrainian people. Fighters, volunteers, workers and engineers in munitions factories, diplomats and even government officials.

And this was during the deep economic crisis in the country caused by the war.

Reviving the Ukrainian army in these difficult circumstances, in the end, we passed the most important test - the test for statehood.

We were able to suspend the hot phase of the conflict. But the situation is unfortunately still hides huge risks and dangers.

Therefore I have said many times - to relax, there is no reason.

We should make more efforts to continue to efficiently equip the Armed forces of Ukraine.

It is difficult, expensive, expensive. It diverts enormous human potential, material and technical supplies, finances, resources from the main goal of the state is welfare of its citizens.

It is a heavy burden on the still fragile from the many shocks the public body. But, unfortunately, there is no other way.
