The leader of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine from the PPO Mustafa Dzhemilev said that German Chancellor Angela Merkel personally promised him to keep sanctions against Russia until, until it withdraws from the occupied Ukrainian territory, including the Crimea, reports Censor.NO with reference to zn.ua.

"We Merkel spoke on this subject, and I told her that recently voiced the opinion that sanctions may be weakened or even reversed, if the Russian side or the formation of that act in Luhansk and Donetsk regions, will comply with the Minsk agreement. Merkel assured that until you have released all the occupied territories, sanctions will not be cancelled," said Dzhemilev.

Dzhemilev said that the existing sanctions, as well as falling oil prices put the Russian economy substantial harm. According to him, at current oil prices, Russia has enough forces to build a superpower for a year and a half.

However, according to Jemilev, the struggle for liberation cannot stop.

He expressed confidence that the Crimea is sure to be returned to Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov last week accused Russia of its intention to displace indigenous Tatar people from their homeland.
