Today the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appealed to Ukrainians on the occasion of the Day of freedom and dignity. Below is the full text of the speech of the President:

A year ago this line is no longer just words. It became a daily action in the struggle for the integrity of the state and for the European choice.

Dear compatriots!

On this day a year ago, Yanukovych has broken a stop-cock. To stop the natural movement of the Ukrainian Express in Europe, to bring him back - and in time and in space.

He does not know Ukrainian history. Because it's for him - a stranger. And though once looked in the tutorial, would have seen the words of our Hetman Pylyp Orlyk.

The colleague of Ivan Mazepa, the author's written three hundred years ago the first Ukrainian Constitution: "the People always have the right to protest against oppression..."

Worthy descendants have not forgotten installations worthy of ancestor. Therefore, the Revolution broke out Dignity. Against a bunch of scoundrels stood by millions of people.

What a year ago was only a dream turns into reality. Although not as fast as we would like. Returned freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of choice, freedom of protest. From dictatorship we switched to a parliamentary-presidential democracy. We have signed, ratified and have already started to perform the Association Agreement with the European Union.

Do you think this happened automatically? Considerable efforts had to make me and our diplomats to overcome the pressure and blackmail from the East, to dispel doubts and hesitation in the West.

Extraordinary elections to the Parliament is another step to meet the requirements of the revolution of Dignity.

Hordes of walkers knocked to my door with an offer to leave everything as it was. Guaranteed full loyalty of MPs.

But I took a firm stand and dissolved Parliament . And honest, transparent, and democratic elections have updated the Council more than half. This is the fresh blood, which should improve our entire political body

The same positive effect of lustration. The corresponding law I have signed in the last month, and provided for their cleansing power is gaining momentum.

After the New year will come into effect the laws of the national anti-corruption Bureau and the new version of the law on Prosecutor's office.

I'm not ashamed to report you. Despite external aggression, step by step, after a hard struggle with the forces of the past do what was required of the insurgent people. What he promised on the Maidan.

I had failures? Of course, because not mistaken only one who does nothing. I am open to criticism, hear it and consider.

What I'm unhappy with is the speed of reforms and the pace of the fight against corruption.

Corruption vertical, which is up from across the country gathered bribes we finally broke. And this is only the tip of the iceberg and only the beginning of the struggle.

Early parliamentary elections I have completed the creation of political preconditions for change. And next week will be held the first meeting of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada. And I'll submit for the approval of the Parliament a candidate for Prime Minister, which, according to the Constitution, the coalition will offer me.

On the basis of unity of the democratic forces expect that the coalition will agree to my proposal to nominate for this position Arseniy Yatsenyuk. But the Government should be fully updated.

Reform should start immediately. Their goal is the gradual achievement of European standards of life, to have a 20 year we could apply for membership in the European Union. That's about it - a project of the coalition agreement.

First party and the deputies did not post was shared and developed under the overall responsibility of a detailed plan for fundamental changes in the country. And they should be the next stage of our Revolution.

Literally in the night five Pro-European parties completed the preparation of the coalition agreement. It is a small, but very nice gift for the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

I just met with the relatives of the victims of Ukrainians with Heavenly hundreds. And today I signed a decree on awarding to all our brothers and sisters in Heaven hundreds hero.

The memory of them will continue to exist up until the will to live saved them Ukraine. I'm sure it means forever.

Dear Ukrainians!

Discussion about the choice between the EU and the Customs Union, which went before the Maidan, was a mere Eyewash. At that time our neighbors together with the fifth column in Ukraine has already decided. And for us, without us.

Accelerating the process was complete dismantling of Ukrainian statehood. Their plan quiet liquidation we picked for it on the us went to war.

Wanted the power to erase from the map of Europe the whole country, but the enemy grossly miscalculated. He has made us even stronger.

Love for the Motherland, the joint struggle of the Ukrainian and Russian for their country, for freedom, dignity, the right to the future - all this has removed the division of the country along ethnic, linguistic and religious characteristics.

We have common enemies, common problems, but the most important thing is the overall country.

And all, without exception, want normal development and peace, the road to which open recognized by the whole world my peace plan and Minsk Protocol.

And those who stood on the Maidan, and who then remained in the party all together now protect the state from external aggression, from direct invasion from Russia.

Together we are building a new country. And need as never before national unity, for the conflict within the country will destroy us.
