New Military Doctrine of Ukraine officially states that a military adversary of Ukraine is the Russian Federation, and poses the problem of relocation of military units and formations, and the creation of a proper military infrastructure in the eastern and southern regions, President Poroshenko, opening a discussion on the National Security Council of a new version of the military doctrine of Ukraine.

"All the current threats and challenges of war, unfortunately, associated with Russia. And all of them are long-term in nature. Conscious or unconscious rejection of the independence of Ukraine is so deeply rooted in the mentality of the Russian political elite, it is not going anywhere in a historical perspective ", - said the Head of State.

"Misleading military doctrine, which was built on the expectation of an attack from the West, which we inherited from the Soviet Union in 24 years has not been rebuilt," - he said, adding that at the time Yanukovych's just work the liquidation commission of the Russian agents, who had been larded Ukrainian Army and the Ukrainian security services that identify and destroy the last pockets of combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The President noted that during the year the army was re-created: "We have created a new and modern army."

The novelty of the military doctrine, according to the President, is to abandon the policy of non-alignment and the restoration of the strategic course of Euro-Atlantic integration, in a shift in the conduct of military conflicts on the integrated use of military and non-military instruments: economic, political, information and psychological. "It fundamentally changes the nature of warfare. This is actually what we call a hybrid war "- said Poroshenko.

The program recognizes that in the "medium term, Ukraine will use primarily their own capabilities."

However, the President noted, "red thread" through all this strategic document comes the theme of Euro-Atlantic integration, the need to bring all our military defense system in line with NATO standards, achieving membership criteria. The goal is by 2020 to ensure full compatibility of Ukrainian Armed Forces with relevant forces of NATO member countries.

According to the President, today Ukraine and NATO are not ready to raise the question of membership, but there is a decision of the Bucharest Summit 2008, which states that "the doors are open."

"I insist in the final editing clearly and without too much diplomacy to record that the Military Doctrine means achieving not only the criteria, but also a full-fledged NATO membership for Ukraine", - said Poroshenko.
