The Chairman of the Odessa regional state administration Mikhail Saakashvili asked President Petro Poroshenko to grant the citizen of Russia Maria Gaidar Ukrainian citizenship for her appointment to the post of Deputy Chairman of regional state administration.

"We ask the President to grant Ukrainian citizenship", he said.

According to him, Gaydar is a very well-known Russian political leader.

Saakashvili added that it was a powerful economist and lawyer.

In turn, Gaidar said that she will be responsible for the social sphere in the administration.

Maria Gaidar was born 21 October 1982. She is the daughter of Yegor Gaidar and one great-granddaughter writers Arkady Gaidar and Pavel Bazhov.
