He said this in Odessa, at the celebration of the 71st anniversary of the liberation from Nazi invaders, the press service head of state.
"Such words are an affront to the memory of fallen soldiers and a mockery of the feelings of the living veterans. Wouldn't win this war without the Ukrainians - there's nothing to even argue! And that's about it would start a war if the Kremlin had not signed the Covenant Ribentrop-Molotov, you could argue," - said Poroshenko.
Addressing the audience, the President noted that with today's holiday begins the marathon of memory on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second world war, which will end with the celebration of Victory Day on 9 may.
The President particularly emphasized the contribution of Ukrainians to the victory in world war II. "According to historians, about 6 million Ukrainians fought in the red army. 2072 Ukrainians deserve the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Ukrainian pilot Ivan Kozhedub shot down 64 German plane, was three times the Hero. Four operational strategic alliances were called "Ukrainian fronts," said Poroshenko, noting that Ukraine together with Belarus was actually in the middle of the war of 1941-1945.
