Spokesperson for the U.S. Department Marie Harf said Washington is a proponent of "open door policy"

The United States supports the policy of joining NATO countries that want to join the efforts in the Euro-Atlantic security.

This was announced on Tuesday, December 23, representative of the US state Department Marie Harf, commenting on the adoption by the Parliament of Ukraine, the decision on non-aligned status of Mongolia.

"We fully support the open door policy (Atlantic Alliance - tel)," said Harf.

She noted that NATO policy remains consistent, and countries that are willing to contribute to security in the Euro-Atlantic space, greet each other, prior to the submission of the application for membership".

Each application will be considered, " he said Harf, and any decision about the possibility of joining NATO, in particular in respect of Ukraine, shall be taken by NATO countries.

Recall, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law of the President No. 1014-3 "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning the refusal of Ukraine, the implementation of the policy of non-alignment basis and as a whole.
