When it became known that the president went on a visit to Qatar, then the question of gas arose.

As you know, this tiny country is one of the largest producers of liquefied natural gas (LNG). He is desperate for the European market, trying to gain a foothold there, but this is hampered by one of the world's most powerful pipeline gas supply systems. As you know, gas pipelines come from areas of North Africa, the North Sea and the Russian Federation. For this reason, it is necessary either to squeeze into the narrow niches of LNG, or somehow to compete with pipeline gas.

It is clear that first of all, Qatar invades the old fiefdom of Gazprom, which in principle does not accept competition and is ready even to unleash wars, but not to work in a competitive environment. It is initially understood that LNG has a number of weaknesses, in particular - a higher price for an equal volume of gas and a more sophisticated infrastructure for its reception. Although long pipelines are also not worth a penny, but the working pressure of the gas in the system is much lower than the pressure necessary to bring it to the conditions required in tanker deliveries. This means that at the loading site there should be a plant for injecting gas into tanks, and at the place of unloading - the plant to receive and, correspondingly, to lower this pressure to the required end user. The cost of the terminal for receiving liquefied gas is estimated at billions of dollars. On the other hand, LNG has fundamentally different logistics and consumer properties, similar to oil. If the terminal is already established, then gas can be bought from the one who offers the best price and conditions, and not the only supplier along which the tanks go tanks. That is, it is the Russian gas pipe that has a potential war included in the delivery. LNG also has practically no political second bottom, which compares favorably with a "stable and reliable supplier" that launches gas from its lair. In general, there is a lot to choose from, but if not cool, for the transition to LNG, determination and understanding of the global situation are necessary. And besides, you need a fairly dense and fruitful communication with the supplier or suppliers of LNG, which must understand the reasons why many are on the dangerous path of buying gas from the bandits.

But, of course, Qatar is interested in promoting its main export commodity and is ready to do much to conquer new markets. As far as gas consumption is concerned, Gazprom had two large customers - a gas consumer: Germany and Ukraine. Now it is clear that Ukraine is ready for financial costs in order to free itself from Russian gas blackmail, which is repeated with an enviable periodicity, for nothing indicates a change in Moscow's attitude to the supply of its gas as to some weapons.

By the way, attraction of the management company for the Ukrainian GTS is just the same from the same opera. This is "our answer to Chamberlain." Since the transit agreement is completed and Moscow is in a rush to try to bypass Ukraine as a transit country, the management company will assume obligations and guarantees under the agreement, but will not get the GTS into ownership. That is, it will receive its payment for management, and the bulk of the gas transit will come to Ukraine as the owner of the GTS. As far as you can understand, the government does not plan to buy Russian gas either for a long time, or never.

In this regard, in addition to "reverse" and own gas production, balancing the balance requires an additional source of gas.The recent manipulations with the valve, which the Kremlin demonstrated, in particular, were offset by Polish gas supplies supplied by the same Qatar and the US as LNG.

And now a preliminary agreement has been reached on the supply of Qatari gas to Ukraine. For Qatar, this would be a serious way out to the European market, and therefore the Gunpowder had something to negotiate and as far as one can understand, it was possible to reach mutually beneficial agreements. This means that the prerequisites have been created not for the political, but for the technical abandonment of Russian gas forever.

By the way, in Moscow many people already understand this and they "scream with a turnip" with horror, because it was not Lithuania or Moldova that "rolled over", but Ukraine, which started to emerge from the crisis and shows the growth of the economy. That is, the second, in terms of the amount of gas consumed, the buyer does not simply leave, but leaves on mutually beneficial terms to other gas sellers and may forget the word "Gazprom" as a bad dream.

And this is already a trend. Moreover, Germany is already beginning to plan its own terminals for receiving LNG, and this is the first market by volume, and the Schroeder is not eternal. Age is no longer youthful, and from prison to him to renounce there is no sense.

In general, the president successfully traveled to Qatar and other than gas, there certainly raised investment issues, and Qatar - one of the most powerful investors of our time. Well, the fact that everything went well, confirms the agreement on visa-free travel for citizens of both countries.
